NYEinsomnia

I'm in bed because I have work tomorrow at 8.30 (cruel/10?) but I can't sleep because 2009 is just hours away. (The poppy Cascada pumped at >half through my earphones probably isn't helping). I've decided to blog.

First on tonight's agenda, Mutant Song Lyrics which Laura stoled!! (=.=').
  • We're the orangutan in America! /kids
  • What is puppies? Baby, don't hurt me, don't hurt me, no more. /love
  • My Aidan will go on... /heart
  • You ain't nothing but a Dale Thomas! /hounddog

That's enough for now.

I was reading about sleep and stuff on Wikipedia last night. It actually started with me trying to work out what the snooze function on an alarm clock actually does. Well, I found out. What was interesting was what is called a sleep debt. You know when you miss a few hours of sleep a couple of nights in a row, then after about a week you sleep longer than usual and feel better?

That's what it is.

Aren't you glad you know that?

Gosh, less than 2 hours till 2009. Or less than one for DST. Gah.

My new baby!

Yesterday, I got a new puppy.

His name is Jack.

He's a Staffy X Kelpie.

He's very cute.

My lovely new puppy Jack on TwitPic

Today, we ran over him with a motor bike. He was fine, but he'd never ave been run over if people listened to me.

*me, little brother #1 and dad wheeling motorbike along*
Me: Oi, where's the dog? *stops pushing*
Dad: Push! *pushes harder*
Jack: *squeals*
Dad: L*** (little brother #2)! Why didn't you move the dog?!

*facepalm*
He's fine, though.

I ILY HIM (:

Time Machine Blog Series #7: Saturday Morning

Well, this week (almost) has certainly been fun. I don't want to go home, but I know I have to, so I really just want to get going.

I'll miss the beach. It was mighty fun. We're like, just about to leave. And I has 0x photos. Gah!

I've only been gone a week, but my bud has since been into a relationship and consequentally broken up. /=

That's it for now!

Bye!

Time Machine Blog Series #6: Friday, the late edition

In comparison to the beach that is a two minute walk from this house, Theodolite Creek was lame. Me and my sister went there this afternoon. We were only allowed to stay for forty-five minutes >.>

We're leaving tomorrow. We leave before ten o'clock. I don't want to go back to Gladstone/Happyrock/Joypebble/Holesville!
I really don't want to go back to work.

This holiday itself was good. I wouldn't mind a break from my family. It's very cabin-ferevy.

Ah well. Woodgate is beautiful. I've, unfortunately, taken no pictures. My aunt took a picture of me buried to my neck in sand, but on her camera. Gah.

I finished Uglies. It was great/10. I've read up to page 18 of Pretties, but I was forced to go to bed. After that I've got Specials, and I could probably re-read Extras.

Japan is less than three months away!
I leave around the 20th, but I have a strange feeling about the 22nd.

School starts in one month and a day. My sister's birthday. LOL.

I really don't wanna leave. But I won't miss the water. Tastes like wood.

Time Machine Blog Series #5: Friday, aka Boxing Day

I was so tired from yesterday. Mum tried to wake me up to go to the beach at the usual early time, but she couldn't wake me up. Like, at all.

We went to Theodolite Creek today. Before we leave for the beach, we put on sunscreen like good little kids.
This morning, Mum made sure we all had. This is how it went down.

Mum: Thomas, have you creamed yourself yet?
Aidan: ~snigger~
Dad: ~snigger~
Both: ~burst out laughing~

Good times, good times.

It was all muddy. There was a dog like my Staffy Jessie, except darker. And male.

All in all it was pretty prime and I have really - HOLY HELL THE ICECREAM TRUCK IS BACK OMGOMGOMG!!!

We went to the beach twice today. I didn't get any more burnt. Remember I didn't wear sunscreen Monday? I've been regretting it ALL WEEK.

Good Christmas, but regular my-mum-hates-me-with-a-passion stuff.

Time Machine Blog Series #3: Wednesday/Christmas Eve

OMG SHE TEXTED ME!!!!!!!
AAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAA!!!!!!

She felt as bad about our lack of communication as me. I've missed her so much. Though, Laura and Sonja have been awesome helping me cope.

I realise I was a dick to her here on my blog. I was just upset. And angry. Mostly at myself, I think. Deep down, I knew it was my fault. Which it was.

Furthermore, OMG, LIKE TOMMOROW IS CHRISTMAS!!!!!

Finally, prawns are starting to taste less über.

Oh, wait. Who agrees that the line "You make me wanna measure stars in the backyard with a calculator and a ruler baby!" = über lyrics?

Au Revior Simone is awesome.

Time Machine Blog Series #2: Tuesday

Today was awesome. We all got up around 6 and went to the beach and had a swim. No waves, though.

I haven't taken my camera out of my bag yet /=

The house we're staying in is awesome and I haven't done much all day.

I played guitar hero (:

Still, all I want is for my friend to text me or something.

Time Machine Blog Series #1: Monday

It's Monday afternoon and we're finally leaving now. Since it's about

quarter to five, we should be in Woodgate about 7.45.

My neck feels all hot and raw. I probably should have put on sunscreen
before going out in the sun all day.

Oh, and LOL, Mum rang before.
Mum: "where are you?"
Dad: "we're still at home in Gladstone."
Mum: "no, really, where are you? Are you at the house [in Woodgate]?"
Dad: "uh, no we're still at home..."
Mum: "there's no way you can still be there!"
Dad (to me): "my god! You talk to her."

That's all folks!

Am I FIERY? I dunno.

Laura showed me an article about baby names.
Aidan means 'fire'.

When I went on band camp, we went to a nursing home in a retirement village and I was talking to my friend's grandma.
She: "Aidan? That's a pretty name. Where's that from?"
Me: "Oh, Ireland."
She: "Oh wow, really? What's it mean?"
Me: "Fire."
She: "And are you a fiery person?"
Me: "Does loud count?"
She: *shrugs* "Close enough for me!"
Me: *blush* "It was very nice speaking to you."
She: "Oh yes, you too. You can kiss me goodbye if you like."
Me: *blushing fervently* "Oh, of course." *kisses Andrea's grandmother who I've known for a whole five minutes*
She: "I hope to see you again, Aidan, you fiery lad, you!"
Me: "Thank you so much." *walks away*

I was nearly crying when I got on the bus. She was so sweet.

It was tough, talking to them. Some don't reply and you don't know if they can hear you. The thing is, when you're a teenager, you're too young to have a conversation without replies. When a lady didn't reply to me and Shaun, he walked away ashamed and I just said "Thank you" and walked away.

Gah. What do you do in such a sitch?

Randomy Goodness, Including JAPAN = COLD!!!

Firstly, JAPAN = COLD!
My lovely new iPod Touch has a Weather function.
This is the weather in Gladstone.
The weather in Gladstone (: on TwitPic

See, it's like 25 degrees Celsius. Nice, right?

This is the weather in Sapporo, where I'll probably be for exchange.
The weather in Sapporo :O on TwitPic

-3 Degrees?!! HELL TO THA NO!!

It's warmer in Murmansk, Russia than in Sapporo.
ITS WARMER IN RUSSIA THAN IN SAPPORO on TwitPic

HOLY HELL.

On another note, I'm going to Woodgate tomorrow. I won't be back till next Monday and chances are, there are no internets to be had.

Gah.

Cascada Chickybabe.

So, I was talking about Cascada, and cute nerds.

The main singer of Cascada is not bad herself.

In the above video, she wears like six different outfits and her backup dancers end up wearing them.

And she's not as skinny as a HB pencil, so I like her.

Cute & Nerdy and Heartless Cows

I believe that cute and nerdy are synonymous. The whole librarians-are-sexyable thing. I totally go for it. For example; in my last post, I posted that Cascada video. The librarian is intended to be ultra-cute-but-also-nerdy (he's actually just a cute guy dressed up as a nerd, but my point stands). Anyhow, I believe that every nerd has a sexymuffin underneath.

Try it. Find a nerd and strip him/her to his/her underwears. I'm sure he'll/she'll be cute.

Now. New topic. My best friend still isn't talking to me.

She wouldn't talk to me on my birthday.

I hope she talks to me for Christmas. That's all I want.

Music

I like lots of music.

None of it correlates to a single genre though.

I like some dancey/pop stuff, like Everytime We Touch by Cascada.

Also, Cascada do a much better version of Truly, Madly, Deeply than Savage Garden.

I LOVE t.A.T.u. I like the Russian songs > the English songs, usually. Their new album Vesyolye Ulybki is really good. The English album (Happy Smiles) isn't out yet, but you can download the Russian one on iTunes, with the English name (LOLWHUT). Anyway, the first (and biggest-hullabaloo-over) single was Beliy Plaschik/White Robe. I prefer Snegopady/Falling Snow.

The video they get embedded on my prestigious blog, however, is the trailer for the new RAMCO film You and I starring Mischa Barton (putting on a Russian accent) and Shantel VanSanten.

It's about two girls who will do anything to meet t.A.T.u. I can't wait 'till I see it... Though, I'll be in Japan. Oh, and their new album is the soundtrack WOOOH!!! (=

Continuing with music:
I like All Time Low, who are not dancey like t.A.T.u or Cascada. They're more sorta pop-punk. I like them lotz. They're very good, I assure you.

I like pop music because there's no limits on dancing; you just do what you feel. It doesn't have to look good, everyone just has to join in and not judge.

=/= Christmas Carols

I work at IGA, so they feel they need music so people don't get bored while they're shopping or something.

I am SO SICK of FAKE CHRISTMAS CAROLS!!!!

Ashley Tisdale singing Last Christmas is NOTHING SHORT OF EARSPLITTING.

I like the Cascada version. Or rather, I did, until they played it for three days consecutively, in my shifts.

There was this Rudolph the Red-nosed Reindeer cover belting out one evening. I said "Who is that horribly untalented woman singing?!" My supervisor replied with "It's some little boy". The song was like an extended extended extended extended extended version. It was very loud and very cruel.

Also, just singing about Christmas doesn't make it a Christmas carol. "It's a Christmassy, Christmassy Christmas, this year!!" is NOT a good line.

I love Christmas carols, but they break my brain at work.

I'm currently in the mood for Christmas carols, but I'm working tomorrow at 8am. I cannot handle that.

ILY JUSTINE <3!!!

I just realised something.

I posted a banner I made for iJustine like two months ago, see here.

My gosh, guys; she commented on it! (:

Yaaayy!!! <3!! (Eck. I usually make an effort NOT to use '<3')

But, I'm glad she liked it.

I just realised something else. I haven't been signing my posts properly today.

Gah.

I'll go back and edit them now.

If you guys haven't seen it, after Journey's End, there was a seven minute special called Music of the Spheres. You can watch it on YouTube, or you can watch it embedded here (I know some pplorz don't like watching embedded videos).

Finally, my new iPod Touch (renamed my iPizzle and then AidanPod) is awesome/10.

It's fun for all kinds of fun things.

EDIT: Gosh, I just realised, I didn't say, Journey's End, Music of the Spheres etc., that was me talking bout Doctor Who.

Christmas cooking!!

So I've been twirling up a storm getting recipes to make.

    So far I have
  • Gingerbread cookies (contemplating)
  • Fruit mince pies
  • Sugar cookies
  • Christmas cake

Thats really not much... ~hmmm~.

Please suggest recipes.

Either the whole recipe or just the name.

Christmas recipe time!!

I feel so Christmassy at the moment. Here's a recipe for a Christmas
cake my mum's friend gave her.

Ann's Christmas Cake

1kg mixed fruit
125g butter
1/2 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup water
1 cup currants
1 cup chopped dates
2tsp mixed spice (heaped)
2sp cocoa
1tsp baking soda
1/2 cup port wine
4 eggs
1tbsp apricot jam
1 cup flour
Cherries, pineapple, nuts, etc.

Put first eight ingredients in a big pot.
Bring to boil continuously stirring.
Boil one minute.
Remove from stove and add baking soda and port wine.
Stir and let stand until completely cold.

Add eggs, jam and both flours. Mix together and place in cake tin,
24cm square or round. Smooth top of cake and add decorations
(cherries, pineapple, etc.)

Place in oven for 2 to 3 hours at 150 degrees C.
Check often after two hours.
When cooked wrap in towel until cold.

Glacè with equal quantities of port wine and apricot jam brought to
boil, painting with brush.

Can you feel it?

It's thirteen days to Christmas. Do you feel the Christmassy cheer?
I'm catholic so I was brought up with the story of Jesus's birth on the 25th.
However, I personally think that Christmas need not be a day of spiritual questing. Christmas should be a time for family. Presents are fun, but they shouldn't be the main focus of the day.

The main focus should be family sitting down to have lunch and dinner. Break out the ham and the turkey and the prawns, guys.

And just for fun, here's a recipe for a delicious punch.

Bubbly Christmas Fruit Punch
2L tin Golden Circle Sunshine Punch fruit drink
1.25L bottle Ginger ale
1.25L bottle Lemonade

Get a large jug and and pour in the fruit drink. Add Ginger ale and lemonade as you feel fits. (I use about half of each).

It's delicious. Trust me.

Birthday Fun.

K peeps,
It's my birthday tomorrow.

Money and/or books and/or iPhones and/or MacBooks accepted.

(:

No, but seriously, I can't wait.

I like my birthday because it's in December and everyone's all excited for Christmas so they feel like being nice to me.

I'm thinkin' about starting a new account on YouTube for when I'm in Japan next year and I'll post all my goodies on there.

That or get a MobileMe account; totally with the moniez.

I'm getting Uglies and Specials by Scott Westerfeld for my birthday/Christmas funtimes.

Suck on that.

It sucks something chronic that my sister got Pretties and not me. Ah well, what can you do?

Bye now, i need to go alphabetise my pencils.

YouTube has been annoying everyone lately with their new involuntary widescreen feature that throws everything out of whack.

YouTube Live TOKYO

Okay, I just watched videos from YouTube Live Tokyo.

It was incredible.

BoA is so talented.

On my list of Japanese CD's to buy.

さかいゆう or Sakaiyuu was like a Japanese Elton John.

Genki Rockets were awesome techno-style.

Kreva was not that great...but I'm sure some people would like him.

Blue Man Group were... strange.

YouTube Live was WIN/10

My god. YouTube Live was great!

It was on Saturday, November 22, 2008 and was the FIRST EVER LIVE STREAMED YOUTUBE EVENT.

If you missed it, you can watch the whole thing on YouTube. I'll embed it here though:

Starting out with a great performance by Katy Perry, YouTube Live was off to a good start.

At 11:28, the shot cuts to the Virgin America Party Plane or YouTube Air Plane, and you can see my uber idol iJustine.

One of the best things was, I don't even like Katy Perry that much, but the fact that she was on YouTube Live makes her awesome.

My last post had the official YouTube Live countdown in it, now it's a link to the Live channel.

William Sledd was hilarious. I did laugh.

And then there was CHARLIEEEE.

Oh, and Her Majesty Queen Rania Al Abdullah of Jordan won the inaugural YouTube Visionary Award, presented by San Francisco Mayor Gavin Newson for her "use of technology to instigate social change". I love Her Majesty's videos, they're real eye openers. She deserves this award more than any other.

Alright, I'm gonna go eat breakfast now.

School Holidays are incredibly awesome.
